About the Artwork:

This painting was conceived at the outbreak of the covid-19 pandemic. The woman portrayed here is actually a famous humanoid designed by a Japanese scientist. I named her Orin since a good friend of mine said that she sees a resemblance between her and me. My challenge here was to paint the model in a way that when giving her her a closer look, her expression would look distanced and unhuman. The landscape was inspired by an image of a desolated beach in Santa Monica. I chose quite a gloomy and unusual palette for this tableau, in order to convey a surreal and dystopian atmosphere in this time of uncertainty.
